“My experience was exciting, beneficial and rewarding.”

Work experience can be hard to get in the media industry.

We at Pukaar Magazine believe in giving aspiring journalists, reporters, designers, writers and researchers the opportunity to gain on the job experience at our independent news agency.

Loughborough University student, Megan Hyden, completed a two-week work experience placement with the team in April 2015.

Megan’s dedicated personality and meticulous talent in research gained her the opportunity to further her experience to regular fortnightly days in the office.

However, due to her undergraduate commitments she unfortunately had to make the mature decision of putting her education first

This is what Megan had to say about her time with our publication:

“My work experience with Pukaar Magazine was really exciting, beneficial and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there,” said Megan.

“The team were so welcoming and made me feel like part of the team rather than just a person on work experience.

“The amount of responsibility I was given was a bit daunting at first, but even after my first day of work experience I had already written an article which was published in the 15th edition of the magazine.

“My work experience at Pukaar News has given me a real insight into the media, broadcasting and journalism which I did not have before.

“I would definitely recommend getting involved with work experience at Pukaar News to anyone interested in the industry.

“It feels so rewarding that I have written articles that have been published in Pukaar Magazine.

“Moreover, my experience at Pukaar News definitely helped me recognise my career goals.”
