How to wear your hair this Christmas

Christmas is only round the corner and you know what that means…. parties parties and more parties! It can be difficult to come up with ideas on how to keep your hair looking fresh and making sure it compliments your outfit.

Celebrity hair stylist Asgar Saboo, who has styled celebrities like Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and supermodels Cindy Crawford and Twiggy among others, gives us his top three hairstyles for the festive season.

Christmas Work Do – Perfect Pony Stay sleek and sophisticated with the low ponytail one of 2013’s hottest hair trends as seen at Matthew Williamson and Christian Dior. This look easily transcends from the day straight through to evening. To add a bit of an evening twist, wrap approximately 1/5th of the ponytail around the elastic band holding the main body of the ponytail down whilst doing so (ensure this is enough hair to cover the band). Secure the wrapped hair with hair grips and hairspray.

Christmas Lunch With Friends – Messy Top Knot Bun

This casual, effortless look has been worn all summer by celebrities such as Gwen Stefani, Courtney Kardashian and Nicole Richie and isn’t going anywhere this Winter. Gather your hair to create the highest ponytail that you can (adjusting height to suit your preference). Secure with a hair band and then begin teasing the hair with a comb. Once you have achieved enough volume, wrap the hair around the hair band into a bun and secure this firmly with hair grips. Finish with hairspray.

Christmas Eve – Wild and Free

This is definitely a time to feel merry, so let your hair down and take inspiration from celebrities all over with loose toussled curls. This look is a hit for 2013 no matter the length of your hair. Begin by tipping your hair upside down which will achieve more volume. Separate the hair into two four sections (two on each side). Brush the hair through and spritz the hair with a good quality thermal hear protecting spray. Start with one section taking a small fraction. Curling away from the face using a medium barrel hair tong. Repeat until this section is complete. On the two left sections, curl the hair clockwise slowly twisting the barel to curl. Hold for 10-15 seconds. On the two right sections of hair, curl anti-clock wise. So the curls aren’t so pronounced, run your fingers through the curls until they are slightly loosen. To hold the hair, use a good quality hair spray which will see you through the night.
